For all my Facebook followers who were not at the three Masses this weekend in Richford and Montgomery, please read the following announcement.
My dear family, it is with joy and sincere appreciation to make this announcement to you. As we all know there is a dire need of vocations here in the Diocese of Burlington, and the Diocesan Office is currently dealing with a severe shortage of priests made even tougher since 6 priests from foreign countries must return to their homes. Their visas have expired and must return home until they are approved to return, and this could be 12 months or more. No one really knows at this time. Having expressed a desire to assist the Bishop in any way possible, I have received the following letter from him this past Thursday.
Dear Deacon Auclair: By virtue of this letter, 1 wish to give you official notification that, effective May 1, 2021, you are appointed Temporary Administrator of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, South Hero, Vermont. This parish covers the four churches serving the Catholics of Grand Isle County, Vermont. It is my fervent hope and expectation that this assignment will be spiritually beneficial both for the parishioners of Our Lady of the Lake Parish and for you. Your appointment may be announced upon receipt of this letter. I truly appreciate your willingness to assume this responsibility during this challenging time in the Diocese of Burlington and Our Lady of the Lake Parish. With prayerful and cordial best wishes, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, The Most Reverend Christopher J. Coyne Bishop of Burlington
I do have a meeting with him this coming week to go over the duties and responsibilities, and so that you may have peace, at this time I will continue my diaconal duties here with Father Dan, although I may not be present every weekend. Please seek me out if you have any questions. God bless all.
